New SS Exhaust Elbow

Hi all, I just finished replacing my exhaust elbow, as the old one had the water nipple break off. Very inconvenient :(, Anyway, I have done this before for my C30 "Sundance", and I just used black pipe for that one. This time I figured, why not do it in stainless steel pipe and be done with it?

Well, that is what I did. The pipe pieces cost about $120, and the SS welding was another $20. Throw in gaskets, a new hump hose and I am looking about $200.

I just installed it today and all works well. The only problem that I had was that I had the new nipple welded a bit too high on the pipe, so I will have to trim the shelf that covers it to allow for the higher loop of cooling hose.

You can see the difference between the old black pipe and the new SS pipe.

Cheers, Bill

That looks nice, I did mine when I pulled the engine to rebuild the tranny. I got to say that part was the biggest pain in the arse getting it all lined up.

Thanks for sharing that, Bill. I may be ready to do that soon myself.
