Has anyone converted the forward water tank to a holding tank? We have 3 water tanks and a very small holding tank on our 1996 Catalina Mk II.
Also, has anyone installed a vacuum flush head system?

I seem to recall that the major reasons against are that you would need an entirely different tank because the materials are quite different and that the location of being higher than the head would not be good.

I have a winter storage neighbor who made such a conversion on a 1995 C36, however, I believe he installed a new holding tank. Drop me a note to jfssail@neo.rr.com and I will pass along his phone # and e-mail

I changed the tank and the system works very well. Give me a call

I had the bow water tank exchanged for a holding tank when I purchased our 2004 C36. You must exchange the tank as a result of materials and penetrations (tank is polypropylene not polythene). We do most of our cruising in the North Channel of Lake Huron and it is important to have lots of holding tank capacity. With the additional 24 gal capacity (and frugal use) my wife and I have been away from pump out facility 16 days.

Note that the links in the above document to catalinaowners.com are out of date as catalinaowners changed their system a year or two ago.
In answer to an earlier comment you do pump the toilet contents uphill a foot or so through a good quality Tee valve and then the contents flow forward down to the tank.
