Guys - I'm taking some forum advice to replace the VHF coax to the antenna while my mast is still down before launch. But, I could use some more advice on the selection of cable. I have found a Low loss 50 ohm cable with the PL-259 connectors (LMR 400) that looks good but may be a little large. I've never run cables through the mast conduit before so I'm wondering if a .4" cable is to large with what is already there (just the standard stuff I would guess) or if I should be using a different cable for some other reason.
Thanks in advance!

The larger cable, (RG-259, RG-8) has less loss than RG-58, So if it fits I would go with the bigger cable.

I would go with RG-8. The distance is not very long and the loss is negligible. The advantage of RG-8 is that it weighs less. A cable that is nearly 1/2" in diameter will be hard to bend around corners and it will weigh more when it is hanging from 50 feet above.

Thanks for the info. Found some US made RG8 marine cable at a decent price.
It's on the way!
