Vented loop on macerator side of holding tank?

I am replacing all head plumbing, including tank and toilet. My marine plumber wants to run an anti-siphon valve on the macerator side of the tank, which would be routed inside the aft cabinate on the same side as the macerator. He says the current, stock setup is dangerous and could sink the boat if, let's say, something were to get stuck in the valve, etc. This proposed additional anti-siphon is not the way the boat comes stock, and I was just wonderin if anyone knows the pros and cons of this setup?

On our C-30, either the macerator valve was left open accidently, and/or the head discharge valve ( I can't recall exact details) and while sailing, the holding tank filled to the point that seawater was spilling out of the toilet into the bilge. This experienced convinced me to be diligent about closing valves while under way.

Our MKII 36 has an anti siphon valve in the cabinet behind the toilet.

That said, I'm still a fan of shutting seacocks when under way.

I left my thru hull for the macerator open on purpose for a couple of days because my diver asked me too (to clean out the thru hull, which was clogged). By the time I returned, the holding tank had completely filled and the toilet filled to about a third full. I guess that is where the water line is. Thank goodness, because I stupidly left it open long enough for bad things to have happened had the toilet been lower on the waterline...lesson learned! However, seeing how my toilet did not overflow, I question the need for a vented loop on the macerator side of the tank.

I have a whale diaphragm pump in place of the macerator - basically has two joker valves which will prevent backflow filling the holding tank -- that said the thruhull discharge is always closed unless I am actively pumping overboard (which is almost never).   The waterline on my MK1 is about 1" below the head bowl lip - when the boat was plumed with direct discharge capability water would fill to this level - or spill all over when heeled.  My boat no longer has direct discharge - everything always goes to the holding tank.

I called and spoke to Catalina Yachts tech. support, and they told me all Catalina 36 boats come from the factory with no vented loop on the macerator side of the tank by design. He said the thru hull should never be left in the open position, unless you are pumping out, and then immediately closed. However, he said the toilet is above the water line, so if left open it will partially fill the toilet and then stop (as happened to me when I left my thru hull open for my diver to clear...won't be doing that again!). Also, I just bought a Raritan macerator that has a shut off valve to stop affluent from coming out when it's time to chanel the impellor. I would imagine that shutoff valve works in both directions if the need arises.
