Transient Mooring in Newport

Happy and safe new years to all. I'm starting to plan our summer trip and am looking for a marina in Newport, R.I. that has transient moorings for 2 or 3 days. There are about 15 marinas between Goat Island and the mainland. Hoping someone can relay some experiences, good or bad, in that area.

I am pretty sure the moorings are handled by Oldport Marine.  This is the same company that runs the launch service.  You can anchor in Breton Cove if there is room.  You just need to stay South of the power cable (marked with buoys) and North of the mooring field.

Bill.. the moorings are handled by Old Port Marine... 1st come 1st served. If you are a club member that has a recip agreement with Ida Lewis Yacht Club, they offer moorings too, with launch service. Old Port provides launch service but at a per person, per ride fee. Ida Lewis is a bit out of town, probably a 15 minute walk, but Old Port will pick up in the Ida Lewis mooring field if you want to ride back after a night out.

If your not aware of it, the city of Newport has a large visitor center in the old armory building  with a dock for dinghys, showers, lockers, TV's for weather and tables for laying out your charts when planning. only cost is for the showers (need quarters) and the lockers if you want to leave stuff in them.

Where are you in Atl. Highlands.... don't recall seeing your boat?
