I have to replace my shift cable (and will do throttle when in there) ... anyone know the lengths for a C36 Mk II? It seems when the 36 tech data went to Florida from Calif., this info was not sent...
Spoke to Edson and their tech guy said they've discovered that steering cables (not the wire) are getting invisble cracks in them and failing. They are recommending replacing every 7-10 years. Also said to wipe the cable with 30 wt oil once or twice a year. Just thought I'd pass that on.

Chuck,
According to an old receipt, the cables are Edson #33 Series, part #734. For my MkI, the length was 14'. I'm pretty sure the cable lengths are the same in the MkI and MkII. I remember there being a BIG difference between the old and new cables. The new ones were so much easier to use! Hope this helps.

OK,,,, the job is done and here's what I found out. The cables are 33 series The old ones were 15' but I got 14' and they worked. If doing it again I'd geta 14' for the shifter & a 15' for the throttle.
If your thnking of doing this, the biggest problem is getting the long screws out of the housing. Plan on a lot of soaking with Blaster or the like. Second, the nut holding the bracket for the 2 lines is inside the control panel which requires disassembly. 3rd, you can't get that block past the chain and sprocket (on the left side of the sprocket) without loosing the chain in the aft starboard lazzerret. Plan on having a small assistant with you.
