This is one of those “little questions” I’ve been wondering about for years. Maybe it’s time to get an answer…
I have a “standard” two-burner Seaward stove/oven that probably original to the boat. I see what appears to be hinges near the back of the cooking top and towards the front, two small steel spring clips that appear to unlock the cook top and allow it to be tipped backwards, presumably to allow for cleaning or the replacement of parts. In practice, nothing moves – maybe it’s stuck with years of dirt and grime. I’m not about to take a pry bar to the stove in order to prove any theory.
Question: As far as anyone knows, does the cooktop unlatch and tip-up/back to the rear (or perhaps I’m misidentifying parts)?

Yep,
pry the front and it will swing open.

Hi Marc,
I had been faced with the same question for many years. I used the back of two teaspoons and slowly pushed them downwards from the top of the stove to pry the clips away from the stove top panel, then inserted a flat blunt knife into the gap along the front (only because I didn't want to force things or mark the top panel) and slowly levered the top panel upwards.
The top panel can then be hinged back to a vertical position for cleaning around the burner surfaces.
Good Luck.
