Thanks Tom, I didn't see your article. Much appreciated. Did you remember if you used the small or the large kit?

Peter,
That was many years ago, but if I recall correctly, I used the large kit, and then afterwards was kicking myself for not needing it. You have a fair amount of flexibility in the amount of spartite you use. By moving the "dam" you create between the partners and the mast upwards an inch or so, you reduce the volume of spartite needed. I can't remember the exact dimensions, but if the depth of the partners is 4", then you don't need more than 2-3" of spartite. The biggest waste of the spartite would be if your dam didn't hold, and it leaked down the mast. THAT would be a bummer! Hope this helps.

ditto on Tom assessment, when i used in the past there was a very small leak. another note make sure you use the vassiline anywhere where you DON'T want it to stick other wise it is very difficult to remove (read a b...tch). I happen to know someone who decided it would be a good idea to remove it from the spar, bad idea, very bad, unless you have alooooot of time on your hands..

thanks to both of you. I've watched web-videos on this and it appears the key is to go slow and be very meticulous. I'll let you know how it works out.

I used the small kit on my C34 and it was just right. Isn't the mast section on the C36 the same?

BTW. It stopped all leaks cold!

Just to agree on the size. I was not sure and bought the large size which was just 2 small ones packaged together. I only used half of it. Since it was handy, I did use a little more than half of the modeling clay though I probably could have used less. Just to be sure, have a little extra modeling clay handy.
