Question regarding A/C Installation

I am a fairly new 36MKII owner and would like to add AC to the boat. I have chosen Ocean Breeze for my unit and am checking out the installation obstacles etc. Also have read others posts and the available information in the "Catalina 36 - Owner to Owner" Upgrade book. Most info I find leaves out the actual getting the duct to the V Berth
I have located and figured out routing for the duct work except for how to get the 4" duct hose from the salon to the head. Once in the head I know how to run through the medicine cabinet to V-Berth.
There is a bulk head between the salon and head. This had a chain plate attached which prevents me from going through the salon louver cabinet and into the head. There is fiber glassed conduit in the top of the oval cubbies behind the back cushions that prevent running length wise toward the head. Trying to run it in the bottom of those cubbies doesn't give 4" in the end near the head and again would be really near the chain plate and require going through the bulkhead. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I feel I must be overlooking something.

Well so far no answers, so maybe I should ask differently; is it OK to cut a hole in the bulkhead between the salon and head when there is a chain plate close by?? Just cannot figure how everyone gets the hose from the salon to the V when installation is on the port side.

Ours runs along the storage compartments under the port side settee along side the holding tank, through the bulkhead, up through the medicine cabinet – above the head, then turns to run down the backside of the cabinet above the sink, through the bulkhead, and into the V-berth right by the portside cabin light for the V Berth.

I will try to get some pictures this weekend that show the transition from the main saloon to the head.

For what it is worth...I just changed out our old Marine Air unit in August. Finally failed beyond repair justification and replaced it with the Dometic Vector Turbo Unit - 16000 BTU. We have been very happy with the lack of noise and the amount/volume of air it moves.

Jack, pictures would be wonderful. As they say "worth a 1000 words".
I am trying to picture where the vent is for the salon. Did you run it up through one of the louver door cabinets and then back down along the holding tank? I have not purchased the AC yet, but have an invoice from
Ocean Air for their 22,000 btu unit. I will take a look at the Vector, but from the boats I have been on, most seemed like they had a hard time with only 16000 btus.
I however would very much appreciate the pictures. If you don't want to post on this thread, my email is neicesea2@aol.com.
Thanks,
Neil

Andres,
No generator at this time. Just plan to plug into power at the marina. Here in SC we have HOT summers!
