I posted on another site first but am interested in our groups thoughts also. Issue is I discovered my prop shaft wobbles with my Kiwi prop between 1600-2200 rpm. Would like to know if any of you with Kiwi or other non-fixed blade props have same issue or have even looked? I think the tendency is to check the stuffing box/prop shaft, etc. on a long motoring trip and you might be at higher rpm. Thanks.

Pat. I followed you thread over on sailboatowners I just have the 3blade fixed. I do lust after a feathering one. My 1st choice would be the max prop. Maybe auto prop for a folder. There have been quite a few threads on props. Those that have the Kiwi didn't mention what your seeing in my brief scanning. Try putting kiwi in the search box above and see what pops up

Pat; I am currently using a fixed three blade on my Catalina but did have a variable pitch prop on a previous 40 foot racing sailboat. I found that the variable prop was far more susceptible to showing shaft wobble with just the slightest bit of barnacle growth on the prop blade. On thing to check is that the prop is completely free to expand. In our case, barnacle growth prevented the prop from expanding fully which meant that one blade of the propeller was pushing at a different pitch than the other. This eccentricity produced a severe wobble in the shaft. Now that were are just cruising, the bang gained from a folding prop is not worth the trouble it takes to keep it clean. (In my opinion)
YMMV
Something to check.
