Plastic prop?

Have you ever heard of a plastic prop on a C36? That's what my boat came with. What I assume is the original brass prop is aboard but the PO stated simply that "the plastic one is better for the boat."

I don't know its specs but I think it's generally thicker than the brass one. My tachometer only registers 2100 or so at WOT, which seems low, but I need to calibrate it to really know what's going on.

Thanks,

Nick

Nick,

I have heard of plastic props for the Atomic four engines not aware of them on our boats. The newer plastic props are fine but, it sounds as though the one on your boat is either to big or to much pitch if can only get 2100 WOT. Calibration of you tach is a good idea but, it is unlikely that it is off by 30%. A metal prop could be re-pitched but I do not think that is an option on the plastic prop. A diameter reduction may be possible.

PS: Glad to hear you did not blow away in the wild Santa Ana, hope you found all of your lawn furniture.

Google "Perfect Pitch" propellers.
