NMEA analog converter on engine

Has anyone experience with installing a NMEA-2000 analog converter on the engine (M35B)?
I am considering to install an AlbaCombi converter to make the engine data visible on my Raymarine MFD.
Are there items to consider when installing??

Here, you can check my experience with the EMU-1.

It's nice to have but I don't use the data as much as I thought I would use them. It will come pretty far if I have to rank my best upgrades of 2018 :) Even if the product is very good and support even better. Maybe it will make sense to me later on.

Thanks for the update - it is a gadget of course and nice to have.
I have to dig a little bit more in the electrical connections on our Catalina where to connect.
It looks as the 12-pin cable connector is fitted inside my meterpanel and the cables are running straight from the engine to there. Also I face the issue that the rev-counter is not working, the volt meter indictating appr 1.5VDC too much, the water temp is doubtfull....

I connected mine with a cable  at the engine, with a 20/8 cable (IIRC) - then ran the cable to the nav station where I put the RS-11 and connected in the Fresh & Black water tanks, and the fuel.

I think it is a bit more than a gadget - with user setable alarms, my chartplotter and i70's alarm if things go out of spec.  For me the origional gauges are hard to see unless I kneel down, and the pizeo only alarms for OP. - Not water temp.    I also added a exhaust temp alarm - but that is not connected to the Network..

only issues is often the RPM reads twice (I"m going to change from alternator to Hall pickup) and water tanks are not correctly labeled as fresh or black but port and starboard engine water.

both the Actisence and NoLand Engineering allow firmware updates and configuration using PC and USB connection.  Others require a seperate piece of hardware to either update firmware or do configuration.   Alba-Combi requires you setup a Ethernet network.  Both are also much cheaper than Alba-Combi

calibration is easy by assuming linear and giving it two different input values ( i set at 130 & 180 degrees for engine temp and tank full and empty).  RPM is a simple divisor till the speed is correct.
