I'm in the middle of installing a 16,000 btu A/C unit in my MK II. I've reviewed the Jibsheet article and several threads here on the forum regarding running ducts, etc. I'd planned on using 4" vents, one in the main cabin behind the port settee, one in the forward cabin, and one in the aft cabin. I need to order the ducting, vents and return, so I contacted an A/C specialist. Real nice guy who's installed A/C in many, many C36s, so knows the process well. He says I need at least a 6" vent in the main cabin, plus the two 4" or the condenser will freeze up. Also specs a 14" return.
So, I have 2 questions.
First; It seems I've seen others here install 16,000btu units with just two or three 4" vents; any problems with that? The specs for my unit say it requires 80 square inches of supply vents. Two 4" vents should satisfy that.
Second; where did you get parts, like return grills, ducts, hose, plenums, etc? I've found some sources, but maybe you've found better.
Complicating matters, I have a sore wrist which xrays indicate may be broken. This will greatly impact my installation, not to mention winch cranking. Hopefully my appointment with a specialist on Tuesday will bring good news?
Appreciate any information.

I also am in the process of installing AC. I have ordered my vents, duct hose, return, and transition boxes from www.marinediscounters.com
They seem to have the largest selection of sizes and they are extremely helpful when called. Their items are shipped from Pflieger Marine Service,
Sandusky, OH. They also do installation and possibly why they are knowledgeable when ordering. I would be interested in the responses regarding using the 6" duct hose as I had planned to use 4" for my complete install.
