MK 1 re-wiring project update & sonar question

It's been a fun winter being one of the only daily boat owners at the marina. There was a quarter inch of ice all the way out to our slip all last week!

So... the new fuel tank is expected any day. Then I can install the new water heater.

Meanwhile the 100% re-wiring project end is in sight. I waited until Costco had 6v GC batteries with a 2014 date:) Which, BTW I found if you hold your mouth just right and mumble just the right words, WILL all four fit into the compartment forward of the nav station without notching it or any cutting. My second bank is a single 12V marine bat. in the storage space just above.

Replacing the 29 yr old OEM #14 blue/black cabin light wiring with new tinned #12 now gives me bright lights with hardly any voltage drop. (I'm delaying cost of LEDs at this point)

I kept the original switch panel & fuse holders as well, (again, balancing costs) but replaced the OEM panel switches with sweet, RED lighted toggle switches..EASY to see when on.

So... Instruments: The boat came with a Nexus server, (Compass, sonar & wind) The Multi and wind control heads still work, but the Autopilot control head is water damaged beyond repair.
There are TWO sonar transducers in the bow. One goes to a Nexus sonar "black box" then on to the server. The second transducer is wired straight to the "Log" input of the server (???)

A friend gave me his old Garmin GPSMAP182C.

What I would like to do is wire the second transducer to the Garmin chart/plotter sonar input.

Since I'm home today I thought I'd ask the community about this, if anyone knows how to connect (see pinouts below) the Green/Yellow/White/Shield wires from the other sonar transponder (currently attached to "Log") to the Com 1 (pin 4) of the Garmin. ( some previous experimenting a few weeks back yielded a sonar error on the GPS display)

Thanks for reading and thanks for any insights.

PS we received our 1st ever glossy Mainsheet yesterday. WOW nice! Inspiring! And GLOSSY paper rather than the 48 North NEWSPRINT I'm used to. But NO ONE had submitted any project reports from the C36 fleet.

Paul, that is highly unusual. I've always recommended that folks read ALL of the Tech section, since many ideas are transferable from different sized boats.

Are you sure the second transducer is a sonar/ depth. If it is connected to a "log" then it is a speed transducer.

Paul:
I have a nexus server also on my boat and a Garmin chart plotter with a fish/depth transducer. I installed the Garmin transducer under the galley sink thinking that it would be Ok. The nexus transducer and log is up in the bow under the 3 drawers. What I discovered is that the Garmin does interfere with the nexus. Once I get into shallow waters I turn the Garmin off and use the nexus depth. I love my nexus and the hydraulic AP.

Hahaha You are SO right Ross. My bad. And I even took a picture of it when I bought the boat! I had completely forgotten. From inside they look identical!

Thanks Randy. I guess I'll learn to trust the Nexus display, (ever changing depth being quite critical up here in the Puget Sound). My previous trailer sailer had a Garmin chartplotter and I'm just used to getting my info from it.
