Mast Spreader Bar upgrade ??? (Photos Requested)

Mast:  Is pulled.  All new chainplates ordered...ALL of them! $$$$ (cleaned, prepped thru hull at deck, no rot (minor that is...) filled holes with epoxy and re drilling. When new chain plates arrive will install with buytl tape (http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/butyl_tape).  Also ordered new mast boot. (all new standing rigging too...)

1. Spreader: photos of the spreader base casting and spreader bar from the 2013 safety notice from Catalina installed?.  I've ordered the replacement parts, just looking if someone took photos of the project when they did it.  (Or photos today what it looks like installed).   http://us5.campaign-archive2.com/?u=23be7ea908a745ae35501e450&id=ee74b66f33&e=691c657a7e

2.  Keel Stepped Base is rotten (any additional photos of what people did appreciated.  I am going to follow this excellent fix by Jason V  (https://www.catalina36.org/members/technical/maintenance/mast-step-repla...)

 3. Lights.  I am replacing mast head anchor light with a signalmate tri light.  And steaming/deck light.  I would like to add some bling...why not?  Anyone installed spreader lights? (for at the dock...to light up the pretty mast?). https://signalmate.com/navigation-light-models/combination-tri-color-with-anchor-3-wire/

4.  Other ongoing projects...lots. BOAT's  BREAK OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND SUCKER!

Thanks.

Nick! How was your project? Happy with your lights? Would love to see some pictures since I will potentially start the same type of lighting improvement. Would love to see pictures.

6, Top Side DECK...PAINT! (Kiwigrip-AWESOME Product http://www.fawcettboat.com/pc_product_detail.asp?key=62CFEB92636F492C8A49078E7C69FA3A

7. New companionway doors.

8.added new vintage port holes

10.  New Deck Lights, RED,WHITE & Blue
11.  New shore power (x2)
12. New 16,000 Btu/h Self Contained Marine Air conditioner and Heat pump 110-120V/60Hz

Also, I did not really do not capture justice to the amount of time and effort into the project.  I basically rebuilt the entire systems of the vessel with the exception of a new motor.  I didn't mind because we basically have a brand new boat at a fraction of the cost.  She now sails much better.  Basically by replacing all the standing rigging down to the keel including tightening the keel bolts it was like tightening up a pair of shoe laces, she points a bit higher and just feels more responsive.  Please note I did not just have pictures of the project, I included some of family and meals on board as well a little home projects that popped up that I needed to tend to while also working on the rebuild.  And like all boats I still have a lot more to do!  happy sailing and if you have any specific questions on any of the projects please ask.  I really enjoyed the project.  I will say to my original post I learned after pulling the mast that my spreader bar was fine and the one Catalina send me was half the size of the one in my mast.

Nick-
Sounds like some expensive stuff- but you'll have a lot more confidence at sea, especially with new standing rigging. If you don't mind me asking, what's the ball park cost of that these days, assuming the yard did the work and and it's a one for one replacement?

Thanks

Total Cost...Priceless.

Rigging, the rigging company East Coast Marine Rigging located in Herrington Harbour North, was just fantastic.   I can't recommend using a local yard to do the project.  Originally I contemplated ordering the rigging either from Catalina Direct or online through wholesalers.  However, my local crew not only price matched any competition they just were an invaluable asset and let me use some much of their expertise as well shop and tools.  And EVERYTHING is pretty much custom to some extent.  I ordered the chainplates for the baby stays from Catalina Direct ($550.00 or so for set of 4) and each one of them took a little bit of tweaking to get just right.  The big flat chainplates I had a local machine shop cut and the new custom bow chainplate I had custom made also by a local machine shop.  I just cannot imagine trying to order this stuff all online and having it shipped.  It all worked out in the end.  While I keep a tab on the total cost for all new standing rigging, custom chainplates, yard time, crane etc, was in the ballpark of $7000.00.  I did as much work as I could myself, which was dressing and undressing the rig, and removing and installing the new chainplates by myself, which was  BEAR!  But I learned a lot and as I said I really enjoyed the project.

Nick-
Great stuff, and thanks for the pics, as they say they tell 1000 words. I just purchased hull 273 so I know we're facing similar issues. SR, M25, fin keel. Already jumped in with window and hatch rebedding, new exhaust riser, started pulling woodwork for refinish...
A couple questions:
- what did you use for external wood finishing (hatch boards, hand rails, etc.)? I noticed you're not a fan of Minwax... but I've used their spar urethane in the past with good results on the tiller for my Pearson 30.
- I'm shocked at the amount of stress cracking found in the chainplates - how many like that did you find?
- Have you rebedded any other deck hardware? I'm thinking my stanchions are probably leaking, anything else you have found as culprits?
- did you install solar fans in place of the dorades? If so how do you like them? I purchased one which I plan to install soon.
Happy Sailing!
