Since purchasing Wavelength I have been wondering about the way the main is made. Along the bottom a lighter piece of sail cloth has been added. There is a bolt rope attached and I have rigged it as a fixed foot. The sail is also rigged with a dutcman flaking system. So why the thin sail cloth and is this ment to be loose or fixed foot?

Thanks. That does make sense. I guess it also dates the sails.... although they are not in bad shape.
Time to get the sails rigged and go sailing. Boats are in the water and the mast went in yesterday. Lots of clean up to do but can not wait to be sailing after a long winter.
