M35A Fresh Water Pumps

A question regarding the Kubota equivalent part number for the FW Pump for a Universal M35A 30 HP diesel. The Marine Diesel Direct Water Pump Group for the M35A shows the Universal Part as # 302503.

Per the "Kubota Equivalents" page of the C36IA site the M35 engine is a Kubota V1200 block and the FW ( circulating ) pump is shown as # 16251-73034. This part retails for $ 236.00 on the Messicks.com website. However I don't know if the V1200 is the M35A or M35B block ( different engines ).
Note that the "Attachment" on the C36IA page pertains to the M25XP ( not the M35A or M35B ).

I came across the "kubotapartsdealer.com" website that shows Part # 15534-73030 for the V1200 engine. That part retails for $ 122.03 ( nearly 1/2 the cost ).

Does anyone know if the Universal M35A engine is the Kubota V1200 block. Or has anyone used the # 15534-73030 pump for the M35A ?

Better yet is there a Kubota Parts List docuemnt for the M35A ?

Larry, I emailed you back, for some reason I slept in past 4 am today.

The M35/35A is the V1200 block, the M35B is the V1305 block. The V1200 was used in B2150 and B9200 tractors. The Kubota parts books I use show the 15534-73030 pump as being the current part number for the water pump on those tractors.

It's very easy to tell a M35A from a M35B just by looking at the front of the engine, there is a big round casting on the left front of the M35B that is not present on the M35A and the raw water pump on the M35B in inside the drive belt, on the M35A its outside and at the bottom left.

To be sure you could take your old pump to your local Kubota dealer, but it looks like the 15534-73030 number is current.

Messicks.com has exploded diagrams for engine parts. You can to sign up there and order the diagram for the sub group you want and they send it to your email, free. If you order the ones for the B2150 or B9200 tractors you'll have the right ones.

I happen to have my old one home. It sure looks like the same, but I noticed you might have to have longer bolts as the casting (original) is about 5/16" of an inch where the bolts go through. Looking at the picture the bolt lengths may be different (various lengths) and the distance through looks longer.

Bud and Gary, thanks fellas. This website is a real help to Catalina 36 owners.

I got hold of an exploded drawing with part numbers tied to Kubota Serial Numbers. Example the 15534-73030 applies to serial numbers above 651890 and another FW pump # 15534-73033 applies to serial numbers below 651889.

My M35AC has a 6 digit 843938. I am guessing that Universal just left the Kubota 6 digit number as is. Hope this is the case.

Gary to your point on the 5/16 inch casting, I assume you are meaning the flange. Unfortunately in Michigan my boat is in the hard and it's dammed cold today ( to check it out ). The only issue I can see is that a thicker flange ( than the original ) may place the centerline of the FW pump pulley further out from the engine ( posssible allignment issue with the alternator and crankcase pullys ? ).

Bud Street just reminded me of the Owner's Encyclopedia (accessible from the C36IA homepage) that is a collection point for all sorts of data. Not all of the chapters are populated, but some, like 'Engines', have a wealth of specifications and cross-reference info archived there. You might have a look at that.

Larry R,
I think the pulley mount relationship to base may be OK, but looking at the pictures of the pump it appeared that they raised the casting at the holes. Not sure why, but it may make a difference in the bolts you use to mount the pump.
