in addition to the hoses not being kinked - make sure the vent line is clear - additionally I would change the joker and grease the pump. You might want to pick up - "The NEW Get Rid of Boat Odors - A Guide To Marine Sanitation Systems and Other Sources of Aggravation and Odor"

Thanks Les I am new to this site and missed posting the bulk of my question by not doing the math problem :( so here it is... I have a new (to me) 2001 c 36 that had some cracks and leaking in the toilet so I replaced it and also had to replace the hose from the toilet to the holding tank as there was a clog. While I was doing this I looked for the access port in the holding tank like I had on my c 27 and c 32 boats and could not find one. bummer Is this standard for these boats? In the past with these other boats I have cleaned out the tank with a hose every few years. I did manage to clean out part of the holding tank that I could access but not much. Now with the new toilet and hose I need to pump it about 10-15 times to get water to go down and for solids it takes MANY MANYpumps. I believe it was a Raritan toilet that fit the foot print of the old one. I have done this replacement several over the years with no problem. I plan to check out the vent when the boat comes out for fall but have no indication that it is clogged as i tried blowing threw it and it seemed open. In the mean time I am beginning to develop quite the right arm and shoulder muscles!! Is this common with this boat ? any clue how to fix it?
I do 4-6 pumps flush and 6-8 empty depending on the load.
Pumps right out. For my mk1 it is less than 4 ft head to tank. I'm re plumbing mine now so just cut that one. Still have macerator line to put in (boat didn't come with one). I will be doing enough in Canada to make it worthwhile I have 3 openings in top of the holding tank. 2 level sensors and a vent. No cleanout

My boat came with a Jabsco head. There is some really good video's from them on You tube.
Is it hard to pump or just that you have to pump a lot?
If it's hard there is a restriction somewhere. Could be on the intake side.
If it's easy and just not going out, maybe a problem with the pump or Joker.
Jasbco pumps can be replaced as a unit for not much more than a rebuild kit.
I had a pump fouled with sea grass and i had to pump forever to clear bowl. It was easy to pump. I have since added a strainer to the intake line.
If everything is working 5-6 pumps not to hard to pump.
Next 1000 dollars I find, I'm going to an electric toilet.
My tank has no clean out.

We had a slow empty issue - the pipe was clogged up.
So 2 litres of vinegar was emptied into the bowl and pumped through the system.
Make sure you leave some in the pipes for a few hours to break down the build up.
Once this was done - the toilet emptied quickly.
Oh - the electric toilet is so easy for visitors to use.

Make sure all your flexible hose connections are not pinched at the pump and exit from the pump plunger.
Good luck. Hope it helps.

Welcome Jim
More info would be helpful. What brand head do you have? Is it the bowl that's slow to empty?
