Engine Box Fire Suppression Access Hole

When I was at the boat show this fall, I noticed the new Catalina's have an access "port" (for lack of a btter word) about 2" in diameter in the port (looking aft) side of the engine box. It's not just a hole, there seems to be a type of cover inserted into the hole.

The purpose of this is to allow the unfortunate Captain to fire off a fire extinguisher in the event of a fire in the engine box without having to open the box and allow more oxygen into the fire area.

Sounds like a good idea but I have not been able to find a retro-fit. Has anyone added this, and if so where did you get the part and where did you actually locate it? It wont fit on the port side on our models unless you drill thru the bulkhead on that side.

Chuck, from a search on "fire access port" at West Marine:

Defender would most likely have them, too.

Chuck, in case you're interested, this month's Sail magazine has a complete article about how to mount a fire suppression system. They also mention the access port method you are looking at.
