On the weekend I started pulling out some wiring I did not like or went nowhere. A few hours latter the water system came out as well... I really need to start putting this boat back together. Does anybody know where all these hoses and wires went? :D
This friday I am pressure washing what is left inside the boat and then I will begin to reaasemble. Windows are rebuild and the frame power coated. Relacement port bulkhead ready to go. Electrical system.... and the water sytem still need a bit of thought. Has anyone replaced the Hot and Cold water piping with PEX or simmillar product?

If it were my boat, they would go in the garbage can.

From what I've read in some of his posts, I think Mainsail has used PEX on his boat. I know if I was doing anything major, I sure would. Apparently it doesn't like UV light, but I doubt it would get much in the innards of a boat.
That old hose and wire looks shiny and new, shoulda left it in....

Ross,
Your boat will go much faster, and you will be much prouder of her, without all that old wiring and plumbing. Good for you!!!

Here's the prior discussion regarding PEX, for what it's worth. I would use regular hose.

I have been doing some reseach on this. Most of the high end builders use it in boats. UV should not be a problem as all the piping is enclosed under the sole or seating areas; nor should oil (Oil leaks get fixed). The biggest cost is the crimper if you do not use the push on fittings. My brother inlaw thinks he has a crimper.
I spoke with the local industrial supplier about any concerns and he said it was the perfect solution for marine work. So this weekend I am measuring up for hose (20' strraight lengths- red, blue or white) and then counting fittings. Supplier will help get all the right parts if I bring in any connections I have to make.
I will take some photos as I go but should be a straight forward project.
They never are.
