Sailing in November

The Admiral and I relocated to North Carolina about six months ago and we live aboard our boat about half of the time in new Bern. The other half of the time we live in Greenville. We were out sailing today and as I looked over at my wife (of 39 years) and she was smiling. It just felt good to be sailing with a warm cup of coffee in November. For me, it was one of those defining moments when you say to yourself, yep, it was worth coming down here. This is really a nice place to sail year round. I mean, here we at the end of November and we are sailing. I am not trying to rub it in for all of those who have their boat on the hard right now. We KNOW what that is like, we lived on a landlocked lake in the midwest for 20 years.

Good for you and I say that in a nice way (not as sarcasm). Part of life is hopefully enjoying the things you like doing and if you can do it with someone you love, it's that much better.

Yes, Glenn, good for you. We decided the same thing 6 years ago and move to SW Florida.

We just came back from a 4-day cruise over Thanksgiving, but it was unseasonably cold weather when a major cold front came through Thursday. We actually had air temps in the low 50s and surface water temps in the low 60s. That's pretty darn cold for us.

I would like to say we had a great time, but having to ride a dinghy to various shoreside destinations (beaches, restaurants) when the cold wind is blowing 15-20 kts took the fun out of it for my wife. She loves to anchor out, but prefers balmy weather.

On the plus side, the refrigerator didn't have to work as hard as it does when it is 90F outside. :D

We have a set of coffee mugs onboard that make a profound statement "Do what you love, love what you do". As a professional career coach I could not agree more. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. We all have so much to be thankful for don't we?

Speaking of weather. I live in South Texas for the same reasons that Glen and Duane live where they do, mild winters and pretty much year round sailing. However, the forecast for Friday actually calls for SNOW and 29 degree temps!
