Well, since I'm pretty new here and the new forums are up and running, I thought I'd start an intro thread.
My wife Jill and I purchased a 1991 C36, hull 1128, in June and have christened her "Palmetto Moon" as a nod to our South Carolina roots. We sail out of Deltaville, VA and have truly enjoyed our first short season with our Catalina. Along with several day sails, we were able to get in 4 separate multi-day trips, both anchoring out and visiting other marinas on the Chesapeake. We often sail as a couple, but enjoy having the room to have guests along and have had up to 5 adults on the boat comfortably.
We've ordered new sails for delivery in the spring and will be doing a lot of routine maintenence tasks over the off season, along with making some improvements to the rigging and are looking forward to our first full season with the boat.
I've already gotten some good info from this site and look forward to learning more and sharing what I can.

Bill, congratulations on your recent purchase of a quality boat and welcome to you & Jill. You're not by chance related to a David Boggs are you?

Nope. No David's in our clan that I know of.

I figured it might be a reach on the "related to", but thought it was worth asking. Good luck and happy sailing with your new boat.

Hi, Bill. We are also new owners. Previous yachts were C28 Mk11 and C310. We purchased Sarah Sue from California and had her shipped to Australia. We absolutely love her! She instils great confidence in her sea-going capabilities and handles Western Australia's strong winds easily.
Congratulations to all people involved in setting up this great forum.

Thanks and congratulations on your new Catalina. Looks like you are a long time Catalina customers -- and why not, they build a great boat!
We live on the east coast of the US near Washington DC, but we hope to visit Australia one of these days. My father spent some time there during WWII and his stories sparked the desire to someday visit "Down Under".

Hi Bill
There is always room at our house for any visiting C36 family. Heather and I visited the States for the first time last year, driving most of the east coast, including taking in the Annapolis Sailboat Show. We were made to feel welcome everywhere we went. Cheers.

Well, they must have been warming up on my hull # 1106 so that everything would be perfect on yours Bill. I'm Mike and I sail out of Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles. I must like these boats as this is my second 36. The first was a 1986 which I lived on for a while. Life events (divorce) cost me that boat, but I got back on the water as soon as I could. When I stepped aboard my current boat, it felt like I was home again. I said to the broker, "Hey, this looks exactly like my old boat. It's Deja Vu". And so she is.

Hi Everyone,
Brenda and I purchased C36 #1922 in April 2008 and christened her Capriccio in early May. We sail out of Galesville, Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay and have done numerous day and weekend sails on the Bay. We’ve usually sailed with guests on board, most often members of our sailing club. An important consideration in getting the C36 was the ability to bring along guests. We’ve also been out a couple of times with just the two of us. We’re looking forward to next season and further explorations.
In the meantime, we’re accumulating projects for whenever the weather is over 50 degrees or so.
