I am in the process of replacing the engine control cables on our 1998 MK II which requires removal of the cable holder located half way down the pedastal.  This is accomplished by removing the nut that is located on the aft side of the pedastal, insude the top portion of the pod holding the engine nistruments.  Access would be easier by removing the "frame" that is attached to the base by two white plastic plugs.  My first question is wether these can be removed by just squeezing the legs together without breaking them?  Can they then be reinserted at the end?  Also, I could not determine the manufacturer of the pod itself to see if I can purchase replacement plugs.  I have not yet contacted Catalina but may do so depending on the responses here.  Thanks.
