My 1983 MKI does not have any engine alarms and I plan on installing the conversion kit from Catalina Direct. I have a few questions. If I buy this kit and this two tone alarm, is that all I need to rig up an alarm for both high temperature and low oil pressure? If so, will the low oil pressure alarm also function as an ignition alarm (sounding when the key is turned on, but the engine is not)? I've forgotten to turn the key off a number of times already while anchored and that tends to drain the batteries.

Not sure which kit you are referring to.
We added the high temp alarm retrofit kit (from Catalina Direct), which is independent of the oil pressure alarm, which our boat already had
But I can tell you that if your kit will add a low oil pressure alarm, then yes, it will effectively function to alert you that the engine key is "on" when the engine is not running (because there will be no oil pressure at that point) (techically not an "ignition" alarm since diesel's don't have electric ignitions...)
