Buyer be Aware

Ran out of bottom paint and went to near by West Mrine for more.  Bought original batch at Defender for what i remembered to be less than $200/gallon.  WM price $299.  I brought it to their attention and they matched the lower price since their price match data already had the information.

I can understand some variance but not $100 or 1/3 of the price.  it seems they have started a price match policy but have increased the prices to catch unsuspecting buyers.

That's about par for the course.  Buyer beware sounds like they are trying to cheat you.  That is not the case, assuming you dont have a Defender retail store in you area,  you're experiencing difference between Brick and Mortar retail and warehouse ship and delivery.  West Marine is when you need to have it now and you pay for it!  Sometimes you just need to have it now.
I just purchased a Jabsco fresh water pump for $135.00 on Amazon.  West Marine was $189.00.  I didnt have to have it now and was happy to wait a whole 3 days to get the pump.  Not sure if they will honor Amazon price in store.

I purchased a new washdown pump a couple months ago.  WM had it for $329, Defender had it listed on sale for $189.  I got online on my phone to defender and showed girl at register and she matched it no questions asked.  You just have to be aware.

A few years ago I worked at WM for a few months in order to get parts cheaply for my refit. I was astonished to find in some cases mark ups in the region of 750% on certain items. These same items were increased in sale price each year I have noticed since. I do not mind anyone making money but simply put this is robbery.

Put marine on the name of the product or store and the prices go up considerably.
