removing fuel tank on hull 1339, Pooka

I discovered a fuel leak this winter, discovered 10 + gal in the bilge.  I also found a little ice in the racor bowl when removing the plastic bowl.  The O-ring on the bowl didn't look right which could of been the problem. Pursuing the issue I, blocked the return fuel line, tighten the  fuel cap and use the vent hose in a attempted to pressurize the tank to determine if there was a leak.  Pumping the tank up to 4.5 psi,  it didn't hold pressure very long dropping to zero by the next morning.  I've remove the fill hose and vent hose and the 6 mounting screws.  I also pulled the anti-siphon hose up thru the hole at the foreward end of the tank.  I an unable to slide the aft end of the tank out of the compartment because the vent port on the top aft end hits the top of the compartment.  I haven't removed the fuel line from the shut off valve, but I don't see how that will give me more clearance at the aft end of the tank.  Also I don't see a second access port for the fuel level sensor.  I've reviewed Bud Street's 2010 article  but hull 1339 doesn't have the Mk II cockpit.  That cockpit began  after 1339, but at or before 1369.  I bring this up because the MK II hull appears to be taller, possible more head room in the aft cabin.

I found the same situation when trying to remove the tank after discovering a leak. Finally concluded the tank must have been installed before the deck so after trying to manipulate it every which way I finally cut the flange out at the top of the opening enough to allow the vent neck and sensor area to pass through. Never got around to filling those area's back in but my tank will come out easily if it ever needs to again. Also don't use the aft birth, only for storage so aesthetics weren't that important.

I'm just wondering if you have pinpointed the source of your leak.

As far as locating the leak, I believe the leak was from the fuel line connecting the lift pump to the fuel filter.  5/16" fuel line connect the two units but the lift pump end is a 1/4" barb and the filter is closer to a 3/8" barb (mm sizing according to Westerbeke engineering). The old fuel line was stretched. Replaced the fuel line with new 5/16".  Also I noted paint blistering on Raycor filter where gasket mates the upper surface.  That surface was scraped and sanded as recommended in previous forum notes.  Will see what happens.  At this point, I'm not going to cut the flange above the fuel tank to get it out.  I haven't found signs of leaks around the tank.  Will see what happens when I commission the engine.
