I'm doing a total bottom job (had to scrap off whole bottom to bare fiberglass due to so many blisters) and now ready to put Interlux 2000E on.
Boat will stay in water (fresh water lake in N.E. Oklahoma) year round. Boats do grow algae here so need an anti-fouling paint. Was going to put Interlux Micron CSC on but want to find a possible less inexpensive brand.
Any advice is appriciated.

All my fresh water friends on the Great Lakes swear by VC17. As with all bottom coatings, most folks advise to ask around your neck of the woods what others are using. Good luck.

All your bottom paints are going to be expense. Like Stu said. We used nothing but Vc 17 with biolux from 1997 to 2008. We sailed mainly Lake Michigan then until we moved to salt water. The slime depends on how much your boat sets. If you use it a lot the growth is much slower to build up.

I've sailed the great lakes for decades and swear by VC-17. Just out of curiosity, what method did you use to strip the bottom to eliminate the blisters, and how difficult was it? Mine is about due for a bottom job.

Petit Horizons is the same type of paint as Micron CSC except it has more copper and it was significantly cheaper. However, I would not recommend it or CSC in fresh water, it builds slime like crazy unless your boat is moving every day. Once the slime is there it won't come off unless you dive and scrape it off and a lot of paint comes off when you do that, fouling the water all around you. I spoke to the Petit guy at the boat show about the problem and he said to keep slime off in freshwater you need a dual biocide paint which was about $50 a gallon more than the Horizons. I'd switch back to VC17 in a heartbeat, it is slicker and you can at least scrape any buildup off without fouling everything around you.
