C36 sole

Cabin sole was replaced prior to my purchase, seems to have space under it that moves when stepped on? I removed a section and there are no signs of any glue or other adhesive from old sole. Does anyone have any suggestions on correcting problem?

We need more information to help you. Are we talking about forward or aft? Is the replacement teak and holly? Normally it is attached by little scres that are screwed directly to the fiberglass. Are the screws missing?

I had the same issues with my sole. As mentioned in the previous post the screws work. I slightly countersunk the screws and no longer an issue. I would be apprehensive to use any glue as you may at some point want to run wires through the bilge area or have access.

Good luck.

I had something similar on the piece of teak and holly sole nearest to the galley and nav. station....the floor seemed to "flex" a little when I stepped near the center of the piece. I feared the worst, but upon removal (of the teak and holly floor) I was pleasantly surprised to see that the cabin sole was a solid piece of fiberglass. I used a few small rubber washers (I believe 1/8") to "build up" the center of the sole and reinstalled the teak and holly floor....problem solved.:D

It was fore and aft, looks to be 1/4" teak and holly ply. the screws were in place but still seemed to flex in the center when stepped on. Think I might give the rubber washers a try.

I noticed the flexing of the sole as well. I used to have a Hunter 25.5 that has 5/8" floor. I do not understand why C36 has a floor that is only 1/4" thick. I guess placing some supports below the floor is a good idea.

Catalina used 3/8 teak & holly sole.

I have refinished the floors but this year a friend of mine just purchased a C42and he didnt want to refinish his floors so I scored all his teak & holly which was in perfect shape.

I stripped it and re-cut it with my old sole to fit mine, which was simple to do :)

He ordered new stuff from a company in Ohio who caried 3/8 teak & holly which cost him close to 1300 for 5 sheets that was also including shipping and crating

Referring to my previous about replacing my sole with vinyl, the pieces are screwed in. I didn't want screws so I put velcro tabs under the panels and this seems to work. I can easily pull them up to clean and they stay in place.
