Santa Cruz Island - Fry's Harbor

Beautiful Fry's Harbor taken from above the cove on the north side (front side) of Santa Cruz island - a C350 is astern of us in the anchorage. Evening downslope winds are the reason we are anchored bow-to-shore in this cove, typical of many coves on this island. This cove was the quarry of the rocks used for Santa Barbara harbor's breakwater in the 1925+/-.

Santa Cruz Island - Coches Preitos Anchorage

This photo was taken on July 30th during our annual 8 day trip around this beautiful island at our favorite cove on the back side of Santa Cruz Island, Channel Islands National Park, CA - the Coches Preitos Anchorage .

A huge south swell early in the week generated great surfing at one particularly remote spot.

Massive rollers came into some of our south facing anchorages generating some big-time surge.
