transmission check and fill

I am a recent purchaser of 1994 Catalina 36 Mk II with M35 engine.  I noticed it has no dipstick for checking the transmission.  Any advice on how to do routine maintenance and topping off fluid?  There doesn't appear to be a direct access to the top of the transmission assembly itself- I can only reach it from behind via the aft cabin access.  Do i just vacuum out the existing fluid and then syringe in replacement?

Suggestions appreciated.

Assuming you have the Hurth HBW100 transmission, there is a fill plug on the top. It takes an 11/16" socket to remove.  The plug has a dip stick.  To check the level, don't screw the plug in, just insert it and pull it out.  There is a same size drain plug on the bottom.  Fluid should be changed annually.

We have a 2005 MKII with an M35 and a ZF 10M transmission. The dip stick is attached to a nut secured on the top of the case casting. Every season, I suck the old fluid out with a hand pump and add new fluid via a hose and funnel.  It takes 12 oz of Dextron III. The access is from the aft berth and is not exactly comfortable to work on.

To my understanding, over- filling the transmission will actually reduce lubrication due foaming.
