Seaward water heater s600

I winterized my boat (accurately I'm hoping) and since putting her back in the water my water heater is not working. I have lifted the front cover and pressed the reset button but nothing seems to change. It may very well be the case that I turned the water heater on when there was no water in the tank! Before calling an electrician is there any advice or info that I should be aware of- I would like to fix it myself but don't know where to start- has anyone dealt with this before- have I killed it?! Thanks

My guess would be that you have not burned the element out. I take it that you usually disconnect or remove the batteries when you pull you boat so there wouldn't be current going to it. I am thinking that you could have a dysfunctional switch on the panel or a loose connection somewhere in the line going to your heater. I would a continuity meter and check to see if you have power going to it and then go from there.

The heater element is A.C., not D.C. so nothing to do with the batteries.

What you can do is remove the element and replace it. If you need instructions, call Seaward.

I would check the voltage at the heater first (110 Ac). Replacing a light bulb on a lamp that is not turned on will not make it work any better.
