Traveler bolts

I have a 1993 C-36 #1224 with a Garhauer traveler. I need to replace the two long screws that connect the traveler to the deck. I called Catalina Direct and they said they don't have them so I called Garhauer and they said they can make them for me if need be. They gave me a web site called Boltdepot.com and looking for what I need is very confusing.
My SS bolts measure 8 1/4" long, 0.214" dia.(5.44mm) and 1 3/8" to 1 1/2" of threads at end with phillips countersunk flat head.
My problem or question is how do I explain exactly what I need so I don't confuse the person I talk to?
Or does anyone have a better place or way to get them?

Thanks, Spanki

Hi,
you can check with james town distributor (jamestowndistributor.com). I had to replace some of mine and i believe that is where i got them from. they are very helpful. the other option is you could use allthread and just use a nut on each end rather than reply on a bolt that long. I know granger sell all thread in 4" 8" 12" 24" and 36" inch lengths. just make sure you specify SS. if you have a granger location close to you, you can just order it and pick it up at the will call window. they seem to be all over the place at least in the Dallas area. btw allthread is just a piece of threaded rod for a given length..hope it helps

Spanki,
I'm pretty sure that those bolts are commonly referred to as 1/4-20 (quarter-twenty), flat head phillips. You can probably buy a 9 or 10" bolt and cut it down to the exact size you need. Thread the nut on the bolt before you cut it, and then taking the nut off will clean up the slightly mangled cut end. From memory, you need a flat head bolt to fit flush in the traveler, so all-thread with nuts on both ends might not work. Hope this helps.

I think Tom is right, but one thing you can always do is take the bolt down to a hardware store and test different nuts until you find the right one. Once you know the thread and gauge (eg 1/4-20) you can order them in the length you need.
