MK I shaft length

Dear all,
I need to replace the original bronze  shaft of my C36 (Hull) 1122, with M35 engine and ZF 10 gearbox. I'm the only owner since new, so all transmission parts are original.

We added a Sigma drive coupler, so the advantage of the new SS shaft is that no Keyway is needed. So tip end does not need a Keyway sit.

Does anybody knows the approximative lenthg? Boat is in the water and it will great help if we know the measure in advance. We prefer to be in the safe side, so better longer than shorter, as without the need of a Keyway sit, we can cut it, to the exact measure.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 1999 mkii. I am not sure if the shaft length is the same, but mine was 52" and it does have keys on both ends. I cut my shaft in few pieces to remove then put the pieces next to each other and measure the length.
I removed the rudder to insert the new SS 322 shaft. I also replaced cutless bearing. There is only one inch distance from the back of the propeller to the strut.
