High Flight, at La Push, Washington

At La Push, Washington, amongst the commies. Yes, we needed the full cockpit enclosure. It was COLD out on the ocean.
We didn't even have the engine shut off and two young Coasties were walking down the dock to board us. They were very courteous. Of course we allowed them to board. All was OK. We later learned that they have a safety boarding quota that they must meet. Not many vessels come in to La Push, so any new vessel is "fresh meat". They were quite eager.
We expressed our condolences for the loss of their USCG colleagues who died at La Push in a helicopter accident about 4 weeks earlier. A delivery crew was ferrying a helicopter from a maintenance base (in Alabama???) to Alaska, and apparently hit the power lines than crossed the Quillayute River entrance here at La Push.
