Fleet 9 Cruising

Fleet 9 is located in the San Francisco Bay and in my opinion is one of the most fun and active sailing groups I have ever been associated with. These photos were taken the weekend of 3-19-05. Although the Bay area was in between storms, seven boats arrived and rafted for an overnight at Clipper Cove. Clipper Cove is located between Treasure and Yerba Buena Islands and is most familiar for being the center of the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Clipper Cove’s name comes from the Pan American Airways China Clipper sea planes. They had hangers on Treasure Island (Seen in background of the photo) and used this harbor as the first leg of there South Pacific route. Also in one of the photos you can also see the new western span of the San Francisco Bay Bridge under construction.
