Just saw on the nightly news that a gust of 175 Km/H was recorded in Newfie land, I think somewhere on the southwest coast? You downeast guys are getting a pounding.
Meanwhile over here we can see some grass starting to show through the snow and the snow we had predicted for the next 2 days is now supposed to be rain and above freezing temps. Went to the chandlery today and picked up some supplies, hope to be able to get started on spring work next Monday. If it actually does get above freezing. What a winter.
And for all the Canadians who watch Rick Mercer Report: A weather forecast we can all relate to.

It was blowing stink here yesterday. Lots of branches & trees down but luckily we just barely missed the snow. Across the bay they got snow and ice and the further Down East you went the worse it was. We got very lucky here in Casco Bay and wind speeds were below 55.... I suspect there were some gusts that pushed onto the 60's but not like far Down East..
The Nor' Easters we get up here are no joke....... Problem with them is the storms come up so fast the wave periods are so short it is like moving between sky scrapers because the wave faces are so steep. Off Nova Scotia yesterday they were recording 52.5' wave heights, and this only grabs and averages the top 1/3.....

Oh I forgot to add, my son's Tanzer 22 and another boat were blown over at the club.... I have to trek through the snow with him to see if we can see if there was any damage. That is his boat in the red circle. No chance of getting a crane in there for at least a month...
