Question Planned trips

I am trying to find out if there are any planned sailing trips starting in So. Calif. with other Catalina 36 boats? I am interested in sailing to Baja or Channel Islands in 2010.

Thank you

Try this, it is open to all type boats, there were Catalinas of all sizes in it.

Baja HaHa

Carol-
I'm up in Norcal but am planning on participating in the Baja Ha Ha in 2010. I went in 2008 and it was a blast. It starts in San Diego and ends in Cabo. You should consider it.

Carol:
If you haven’t already, consider joining a local fleet. If you're still in Redondo, there's #1 at MDR, #2 at Alamitos, and an All Catalina fleet #24 in San Pedro. I'm not a member of any of these groups - What Groucho said - but I'm sure quite a few of these boats venture to the Channel Islands regularly. The Channel Islands are an excellent place to visit as long as the boat is seaworthy in all respects, the weather is benign, and you're versed in anchoring fore & aft.

Cool bareboat charter

The wife and I are thinking of doing our first bareboat charter next January. I was thinking of Baja, Mexico. Does anyone have experience or recommendations? We have to go in January due to her teaching at the local college. Any insights would be welcome.

My wife and I for several years would go to La Paz over the Thanksgiving holiday. Running our own business we could seldom take vacations, we would make this a five day weekend vacation.

I loved La Paz, as it is not a tourist town, Cabo looks like adult Disneyland to us. The Moorings used to have a nice charter base in La Paz and there is some great sailing areas in the Sea of Cortez just off shore. There are a group of islands about twenty miles east of La Paz that have wonderful achorages and fantastic diving.

I only had the oportunity to sail beach cats just west of La Paz, we did take a super panga trip out to the islands and went diving at the sea lion rookery at Los Isolets, a small rock outcropping north of Espiritu Santo one of the larges island and most southerly in the chain.

It will be cool in January and you will need a wet suit by then. October and November are great.

Are you looking for crew for any of this trip? I'm not going with our boat, partly because my wife isn't interested, but I might be interested in crewing for somebody else at least part of the way. I'm located in the SF Bay area also. (By the way, if it's relevant: I speak fluent Spanish.)
